 Lila and Raas, created by the design duo Doshi Levien, are vibrant upholstery fabrics with an exceptional colour story.

Both Lila and Raas combine two voluminous solid-coloured yarns: a regular yarn in the weft and an irregularly structured slub yarn in the warp. This gives them a tactile, vibrant surface that feels like bouclé and has the cool touch of linen.

Although the fabrics share the same construction and combine well, they are clearly distinct. While Raas is tightly woven with a precise grid-like expression balanced by the slight irregularity of a slub yarn, Lila features an ikat-like, striped pattern and a more relaxed character.

To realise their vision, Doshi Levien mixed over 100 gouache colours by hand and then painted them onto swatches. These were used as a reference in production to dye the yarn very precisely – resulting in refined, elegant colours that cannot be found in any existing colour system.
